Bridging Generations through Digital & AI Literacy - BRIDGE-AI

Why this project? 

In today’s rapidly digital world, technology offers many opportunities from staying socially connected to accessing services and improving quality of life. However, not everyone benefits equally. 

Older adults are especially at risk of digital exclusion, facing barriers in accessing online services and participating fully in society. This became even more visible during the COVID-19 pandemic. 

At the same time, young people are growing up with technology but need stronger awareness of its ethical, social, and inclusive use. 

 BRIDGE-AI brings both groups together to create a more inclusive, human-centred digital future. 

What does the project aim to do? 

1. Build digital & AI skills across generations 

• Older adults gain confidence using digital and AI tools 

• Young people deepen their digital knowledge and reflect on ethical issues 

2. Encourage social engagement and connection 

• Young people (18–25) act as “digital partners” 

• Intergenerational exchange strengthens empathy, communication, and civic responsibility 

3. Preserve and share life stories 

• Older participants share personal experiences 

• Stories are transformed into digital outputs and local exhibitions 

4. Strengthen organisations and learning methods 

• Development of practical, reusable training materials 

• Support for innovative, inclusive education across Europe 

What will the project achieve? 

• 30+ older adults gain basic AI and digital skills 

• 30+ young people strengthen digital competences and intergenerational skills 

• A collection of digital stories preserving European heritage 

• A modular trainers’ manual for intergenerational AI learning 

• Stronger trust and understanding between generations 

• Increased capacity of organisations to deliver inclusive digital education
