We're looking for a trainer for “Skills for cultural mediation and interpreting”


Have you got experience of interpreting or cultural mediation?

We are looking for an external trainer to work with us on the execution of an 18 hour training course in ‘Skills for cultural mediation and interpreting’ between February and March 2019. From October 16th-20th 2018 the selected trainer will attend a Train the Trainer Course in Palermo, Sicily to test and evaluate the course materials for “Skills for Cultural Mediation and Interpreting”. Based on this, the materials will be adapted for the training course to be implemented in early 2019.

The tasks will include:

·         Testing and evaluating course materials

·         Adapting materials to the Swedish context

·         Translating materials to Swedish

·         Recruiting participants to the training course together with the SwIdeas team

·         Implementing the Training Course

We are looking for those who have the following to run the course with us:

·         Experience of cultural mediation or interpreting

·         Experience of running workshops or courses in this field or a similar field

·         Fluent in English and Swedish

·         Experience working with migrants

·         Intercultural competence

·         Good communication skills

·         Structure and drive

The payment rate for this assignment is based on our EU project agreement at a non-profit rate. The course is part of the project “Skills to Maximise Inclusion through Interpretation and Mediation, which aims to help reduce the social barriers and economic obstacles faced by immigrants or refugees through providing interpreters and cultural mediators with improved training so that they are better placed to reduce communication barriers and draw public services and citizens closer together.  SwIdeas is responsible for the implementation of SMIIM in Sweden. SwIdeas is a CSR oriented enterprise which works with both international and community development with a focus on the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) and Europe.

Skills to Maximize Inclusion through Interpretation and Mediation is a KA2 Strategic Partnership for Vocational Education and Training co-funded by Erasmus+. The project is led by Dacorum CVS (UK) and brings together partners from Bulgaria (Runi Center), Germany (Iberika), Greece (Active Citizens Partnership), Italy (CSC Danilo Dolci) and Sweden (SwIdeas).
